DAY SIX OF THE SUPERNATURAL SERIES

All of our children have different gifts, and I love the diversity of all three. Our middle child, Rhema’s gift is more spoken and obvious than the other two. I do not say this lightly when I say that this doesn’t mean she is more special, more spiritual than the other two. Her gifting is just set apart to be more open, and I love that about her.

She is in constant awareness of how I am feeling at every moment during the day. She knows when I need a hug, or an encouraging word. She is still a fun, sassy four year old girl, but at times she is so beyond her age.

For day six I thought I would share a few things about our Rhema that have been supernatural, they have blown my mind many times. Her name means ” word of the Lord ” , and so far her mouth says who HE is in every situation.

A few days following my miscarriage of our son Jude , she stood at the front door. Peering out into the yard I noticed her silence and concentration. Her eyes squinted as she formed the words I will never forget:

” Mom, I have a baby brother in heaven, don’t I ?”

A few months after we lost him, Rhema was cooking with me in the kitchen. It’s one of her favorite things to do with me. She is always eager to learn how to do what I am doing. Whatever that task is, bless her heart. This time I was teaching her how to bake a cake. As soon as we cracked the egg she says:

” Mom, Jesus is in here a lot with me. He told me that I have a brother in heaven with the name that starts with a J.”

And just like that I told her she was correct, and she began asking more questions about baking. As if it wasn’t a big deal to her, she just loved being with me and learning about baking.

Many times driving down the road with her in the backseat I will hear her talking to God. Adorable topics like: how ” fashion” her outfit is today” and ” what color nail polish should she use next”. Literally asking him questions. One particular day I heard her talking in a hushed tone and asked her who she was talking to. She responded with :

” The angels that are flying beside our van all the time.”

Again driving in the van Rhema began expressing that she knew I was having a hard day, that Jesus told her something to tell me to help me feel better:

” Momma, Jesus says that you are so special. There is no one like you, and no one that can do your jobs like you.”

This was a day that I was struggling to juggle finishing up my book and taking care of three sick children.

The way that God speaks through my Z is a blessing that I will not take for granted.

I know for a fact that there are many prophetic children in this world. Not just mine. When we create an environment where giving a word to someone is normal, they are comfortable to share. Just like any other group setting in which we are expected to express our feelings. Do we feel comfortable that what we say will be taken seriously?

Or do we feel ashamed that what we will share is nuts?

I know what it is like to be ridiculed for my faith, and my decisions. If there is one thing that I will instill in my childrens hearts its this:

Be bold in your faith and your encounters with God. For they shape who you are, and who you encourage to grow closer to His presence.
