Hope in the now.

It’s so easy to become focused on our hopes for the future, that we miss out in hope for the now.

Today I received really good news from my Publisher , and suddenly my day was made. No more dark cloud over my head, following me throughout my day, and occasionally raining on me. I was excited for what was to come in the months ahead. Plans danced around my mind, as I soon started to think about what I would wear to my first book signing, clearly I would need to whiten my teeth and buy something cute, not just something clean.

It was then God stopped me in mid thought and said:

” I am happy you are happy about your future, as you should be. But be happy about right now. You are missing it.”

You see, I think I have lived my life like this. I am such a planner ( of only fun things, mind you ) that I can easily become so fixated on the hope for my future. There is joy , even in our waiting to step into the next season.

What if, perhaps we were to embrace the joy that is available for us even in the waiting. What if we didn’t even call it waiting, that sounds so negative. What if we called it living?

I will be joyful in whatever season I am living in.

Even the really hard ones.

Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing                                                lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!
